does my homemade soup count towards daily water intake?

OK so this may be a stupid/confusing question but I'm curious to know anyways. I made turkey and vegetable soup using 10 cups of water and added sodium free chicken bouillon packets as the base. Since tea isn't considered water is that also the case for my soup or can I log the water used?

Everyone has their own rules for this. Personally, I only count water as water. Some people count anything liquid. Some include jello. Others include various foods.
It's your diary and you can track it however you want!

You can log both tea and soup as water intake. Heck, you could even log cucumbers and tomatoes are water if you want to be specific. Personally I don't log water because I know I'm getting enough of it from all sources.0

Yes. The food you eat represents about 20% let alone the water your using. Some people for some reason believe that only water can represent that requirement, why is a mystery to me, youtube is suspect.0

I count tea as water. I wouldn't have a problem counting broth as water, too. Since soup is made of broth, I guess you're good to go!0

If you want to be frugle about your water intake then feel free to count it, it's definitely a preference. The only thing I don't count towards my water intake is tea/coffee because it contains caffeine - a natural diuretic.0

For me, I wouldn't count it as water. Soup would count towards a hydration goal, as would a lot of foods, but to me soup isn't water.

This!
You should really count everything as water, especially most fruits which are almost entirely water. However, do a sanity check with things with caffeine and alcohol because in most cases you will have a net water loss.0 -

It doesn't really matter what you count or don't count as water intake. The 8 cups of water per day thing is a long-disproven myth.
If reaching for a glass of water instead of a can of soda helps your weight loss, then sure, by all means, aim to get more water in your diet. But as long as you're not dehydrated, you're good to go.0 -
