today, i started eating a little hash browns and before i knew it i ate 2 cups how do i stop this?
i dont know how many calories that is
it could be as much as 470 calories per cup or maybe if its lik ea potato then 200 calories per cup, they are kind of like country potatoes but it could still have a bit of oil in it
it was leftovers from a party so i dont know the calorie content of it
then
should i just avoid hash browns completely?

I find it helpful to focus on the behavior that led to the binge, rather than the food I binged on. Especially if it's something like leftover hash browns that you don't normally have around. How were you feeling? Were you bored/sad/upset/thirsty? Were you just sitting there, thinking about hash browns?

I fry up onions and peppers without adding oil or anything. Then I pop the (partially baked in the microwave) chopped up pieces of potatos in there with them.
They're not fried like hash browns, but they're flavorful, especially after some Mrs. Dash gets sprinkled on them.
If you have certain foods that you cannot stop eating, it's not a bad idea to eliminate them. That's your call.
No clue about the calories. Take a good guess, log it and move on. Next time, weigh everything first.0 -
What I do is to pre-log it and then only make (or order) as much as I plan to eat. I find that my biggest problem with overeating is having a lot of extra food just sitting around.0

Just identify how much you ate say 100grams, find which out type of has browns and preferably how they were cooked. Easy to find, don't stress. It is down to knowing what type (say birds eye or a grocery store brand) and myfitnesspal will find that type of thing easily.0

log everything before you eat it, not the other way around. If I know that I only have 300 calories left and I decide to eat something, I will log as much of it as I can eat to fill that 300 calories if it's osmething I want to eat a lot of. If I can only have 2.5 label servings and not like 4 or 5, then that's what I eat and I'm satisfied.0
