I have a Fitbit One and use the rowing machine at the gym. It's counted what I've done, how accurate it is though I don't know.

Which rower are you thinking of getting? If it's a Concept 2 with the PM4 it can detect a Polar or Garmin HRM (sorry, I've used a FitBit or any of the other fitness trackers)

I use a Concept 2 PM2 at gym, it's not compatible with the Polar FT7 HRM that I use, but I use the FT7 watch digital display for heart rate ... I only use the PM2 for time/distance

If you're using a decent quality rowing maching it'll give you a display of energy expended by the end of the sesion. Clearly that's based on output power, rather than energy consumed, but it's as close as anything else that you'd use.

An ergo is a very good workout, although you do need to spend the money on a reasonable quality one; Concept or Waterrower.

    Thxs for the replies guys

    I already have a Concept 2 rower with a pm4

I was just wondering if a tracker would work with rowing as i like the convenience of just a wrist band doing my heart rate
