Lets talk about Shakeology

There is a challenge pack on sale with the new insanity program, comes with a month of shakeology. Has anyone tried this? How long have you been on it? Did you see/feel any health benefits?

The thing with Shakeology is that you replace meals with it. Once you've lost weight or run out of money to keep buying it, you have to figure out how to go back to eating real food while either maintaining or losing.
Your best bet is to figure out how to eat without using meal replacement shakes.
If you're just looking for a shake to use for a quick breakfast, you can find higher quality protein shakes at your local stores for a much more reasonable price tag (i.e. Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, Wal-Mart, Sprouts Farmers Market, grocery stores, etc.).
Now, if the package you are buying just comes with it as a free add-on. Buy the package (if you want it), then turn around and sell the shakeology. There are people out there that will buy it off eBay from you if you list it as cheaper than normal prices.0 -

It's garbage and a waste of money, "coaches" will say differently but they are pretty ignorant on the product themselves

Keep it simple, eat a well balanced nutritious diet and maintain a modest caloric deficit. You don't need gimmicks or shortcuts.0

Yeah...let's not talk about Shakeology.0

Yeah, don't ever say Shakeology on these boards. It's keyword for almost everyone and their mother to lose their crap.0

Shakeology is expensive (even with the Coach discount I had) and I couldn't stand the taste. It was kind of gritty and I don't care what recommended recipe I tried, it wasn't good. It does give you tons of vitamins and vegetables, but I never do well with meal replacements. Plus, are those vegetables as beneficial in broken down shake form? Just thinking out loud there. I love the programs they offer but just couldn't stick with the Shakeology.0

Thanks guys!! The program is $120 by itself for the new insanity program (I LOVE Shaun T!!) and $160 with the Shakeology so you're basically paying $40 for the shakeo instead of the normal price of $129 (never in a million years would I pay that much under normal circumstances) I just figured it might be worth it for just the month to try then go back to my normal protein shakes, which I pay about $40 for already but that lasts longer than a month.0

I used it for a couple months (I got it in a challenge pack too), I used it as a mid morning snack really and found it pretty filling (way more than regular protein shakes) and not bad at all (the chocolate. The strawberry tropico one is disgusting). And it did seem to help with cravings. I wouldn't spend more than $30 on it though so that's why I stopped buying it...
So yeah, at that price, it's not a bad deal.0 -
If you want to try it with the challenge pack why not? At least it will speak to your curiosity. I used it a number of years ago- the original chocolate, as a breakfast or as a snack. I did find it helped with cravings. I was a coach at the time, and also a registered dietitian, so I guess I knew something about my food, lol! However, I have not bought any in a very long time, -they changed the formula of the flavor I liked, and I didn't like it any more. I tried the vanilla everyone got excited about, and hated that too. Even with my coach discount it was too expensive to use on a regular basis. It certainly isn't necessary and nutrients in it are certainly obtainable elsewhere. It doesn't set well with some-ie, digestive issues have been reported, and I don't need or want those either.0

I'd never waste my money on that, far too expensive. I wouldn't wanna get used to having it, it's not realistic to spend that much money on 1 thing month after month.0

interestingly enough I drank some this morning (had a few samples left over) and although I didn't mind the taste, my stomach has felt a little funny all morning.....hmmmm0

You say "Shakeology?"
I say "No thanks. I'd rather drink my own urine."0 -
i'd love to try it. i had a friend check the ingredients and it's pretty low in carbs without having chemical sweeteners in it. for a meal replacement just because you feel like something quick and easy that day, i can see how it can be useful. i can't picture anyone staying on it for life. same with isagenix, by the way, which i love the taste of.-2
