Do you brine your apples?

I'm not sure if it's the right word for it. My mother was telling me this weekend that I should soak my apples for at least 15 minutes in a salt water solution to remove any unwanted chemicals before eating it an apple with the skin. I've never heard of this before. Thoughts?

I've heard of rinsing them with a solution of vinegar and water, however I have no idea if that, or brine, would remove anything harmful from apples, or even what these solutions are supposed to remove. I buy organic, rinse them, and dry them, and so far, so good, i.e. no food poisoning.0

I've heard of vinegar & water... and also that it keeps berries fresh significantly longer than normal. Hell if I know if that's true or not.0
