    By definition sugar is not truly an addictive substance. Although there are millions of people out there that seem to have significant cravings for the stuff. There are studies pointing both ways but as of right now, you are not addicted to sugar.

    1. At one time I had strong cravings for sugar.
    2. There is no good reason for retaining water after eating a carbohydrate.

    2a. Although, if you are becoming insulin resistant, higher levels of insulin can be associated with increased levels of the steroid hormone aldosterone which causes fluid retention.
