What's more depressing?

So, I just finished a planned 2-week logging break, and during that time managed to pack back on 7.4 of the 13.2 pounds I had lost in the 12 weeks prior to that (while maintaining an average deficit of 1,008 calories/day, yeah, do that math :grumble: ). I wasn't eating particularly well, so not totally unexpected - I'm owning it and moving on. I know that a decent amount of it is likely water.

BUT, my question - is it more depressing (a) to have gained 7.4 pounds (water or fat) in 2 weeks, or (b) to come to the realization that eating at my pre-MFP calories and food choices my body has the capacity for 5 or 6 more pounds of water weight than I carry while eating at a deficit, which means that probably almost half of the weight I had lost up to that point was water, meaning that I've been losing not 1/2 the amount of fat that I should based on my deficit, but more like 1/4 of the amount that I should. Which one would make you crazier? :explode:

(Yes, this is meant to be tongue-in-cheek  . If you can't get a laugh out of the absurdity of BS of this sort you run the risk of just going under, amirite?)
