Keep getting bored

I lost a lot of weight before getting pregnant with my daughter in 2012 (60lbs). I used treadmills, stationary bikes, when on walks/bikes/runs, used the walk at home videos and other at home videos. But I gained most of it back after having her. I'm now 20lbs away from my goal weight but I can't get into exercising again. I get so bored with everything! I'm stuck doing things at home because of my boyfriends job there isn't a time that I can go workout anywhere when he's home without bringing my daughter. So I've been doing treadmill, stationary bike, and videos. But I just get bored and can't seem to stick with anyhing.

Any ideas for new things to try or even how to beat the boredom?! Any help is appreciated. :)

What do you enjoy doing? What worked for you the first time?

what about new videos? Like a system that comes with 3 or 4 different options..... I enjoy pole dancing, can't get bored with that and my arms never looked so good...but it takes a lot of space....

There's a couple in my Learn To Run class who bring their baby in the running stroller. Cute baby; giant blue eyes.

I find treadmills deadly boring, too. When I started I thought I would be chained to the treadmill forever, so I bought a Goji. http://www.gojiplay.com/ I don't use it much any more because I prefer to run outdoors.

Everything worked for me before. Which is why I'm having such a hard time figuring out why nothing does this time.
Zumba was probably my favorite last time, but I've since had back surgery and am not supposed to be doing it for at least another 6 months.
There are unfortunately, no classes where you are allowed to bring your children with you where I live. I could put her in the day care at the gym if I went but then I would be spending $15 for an hour class whenever I went.

I was going to suggest taking your daughter for a walk in a stroller but then I looked at your profile and you're in Dickinson, ND, where I know for a fact that it sometimes snows in June. LOL I have a friend whose daughter lives there. She's a couple of years younger than you.

I think the trick to sticking with an exercise regimen is to find something you actually like or to find a way to make the activity challenging. I can't stand using a treadmill but mostly because the only ones I have access to are at the gym and there's nothing to distract me. At home, I have a stationary bike and I use my computer in the same room to watch old TV shows or movies while riding it so it's not boring at all.

You are a different person, different circumstance. Perhaps what worked before won't work now. It strikes me that your before activities were very social. You don't get that from a treadmill or a video. Do they have mom and tots swimming classes where you live?

Health can require some investment. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to offer some perspective... you gotta do what's right for you.

Also, to be clear... are things not working now, or are you not stickign with them?

Also, how's your diet? that'll be the biggest factor in all this, and if it's not where it should be it could very well be negating any weight loss benefits from your workouts.

Which do you want....do you want to lose the extra weight with appropriate diet and exercise or do you want to be entertained? Use the positive results that you have had and be thankful for new areas and the "boring" will turn into a blessing, seriously, been there, done and doing that!

youve just been doing different kinds of cardio?

Honestly, if I was relegated to cardio equipment and videos I'd be bored too...I don't really think there's a cure for that...it's boring *kitten*. I guess if I had to do it, I'd do it...but I don't think I could ever make myself like it. I suppose if It was temporary I could get through it, but really I'd be trying to figure out how I could actually do the things I enjoy doing.

All that said, sometimes training is boring...I have a love hate relationship with actually training for something. On one hand it's a rush to see how my fitness is improving...on the other hand, I'd much rather spend an hour on my bike 3- 4 days per week just enjoying myself than 3-4 hours on a given day in the saddle actually training...and being bored. Sometimes you just do what you do and get 'er done.

Maybe throw in some resistance work too...just doing endless cardio gets pretty boring.

Why don't you try something like yoga, or strength training?

First off, why is Zumba not possible, but other upright exercises are? Is it the jumping? Is it the twising? You might want to get some clarification on that. It is possible that you just need to rest and heal right now.

After you are sure you are ok to go, make a list of exercises that you even might be interested in. Give each one a two week trial period until you find something you enjoy. Commit to a workout schedule. I realize that at 2yo, your daughter is at a very dangerous stage and you can't just strap her in a jumpy seat anymore and you can't leave her unsupervised for half a second (how do they get those baby latches open?!), but you need to make unnegotiable time at least three times a week and/or find things she can join in on. If you are a single mother, find other women who are willing to switch off with you on child care duty; if you have a partner, you may have to give up some time with them to focus on you.

Here is a list to consider:
    -dancing in your living room
-yoga (I have a DVD called "Yoga for a strong and healthy back" from Yoga Zone that I love, but again, check with your doctor/PT)
    -hula hooping
-chair aerobics (hey, when you have limited mobility, something is better than nothing)
    -swing/belly/hip hop dance classes
    -bike riding
    -strength training with resistance bands
-a bodyweight program like Convict Conditioning or Body by You
    -pilates

We were going on walks everyday until it became cold, so that's why I'm mostly restricted to home now lol cold months suck with a little one.
They have mom and tot swim classes, that I plan to look into, but I know the next one isn't for a couple months so I have looked at that as something I'd like to try. (Hopefully she likes the water this time, last time she screamed the entire time lol.)
As for not working or not sticking to them, both. I'm having a hard time sticking with any sort of exercise I've tried lately because im so bored with it all. My eating is typically very easy to control, but being honest around the holidays I've let it slip lately.
Cardio is my favorite (or at least used to be,) because I love to feel the rush. I love the feeling after a good cardio workout so yes, I've been doing mostly cardio.
I've been doing yoga at least 3 times a week for a few years now, so I know I like yoga but I'm mostly looking for something that's goingg to burn more calories to do as well.
I've already asked about the Zumba and the reasons is because of all the twisting. Most happens in lower back which is where the surgery was. I'm allowed to run/bike (just not long periods of time of sitting on one) walk, yoga (as long as it doesn't cause pain) and most other things that don't require too much weight or twisting.
I don't know anyone here yet, we only moved here a few months ago and being a stay at home mom with little extra money to spend I haven't had a ton of opportunity to meet people yet. The problem with my boyfriend is he works all of the hours that the gym is open (at least the classes parts) and I have little interest in going to them gym and spending money on a treadmill or bike when I have those at home.
I'm still exercising despite being bored, just not as much as I'd like to and quite frankly I don't want to have to always force myself to exercise like I have been which is why I'm looking for advice. I enjoyed it so much last time and just want to get back to looking forward to working out instead of dreading it!

Thank you all for your suggestions, I'm definitely going to look into the suggestions and look forward to any other feedback!

yeah I would definitely start evening out the balance between your cardio and strength training, not just to pre-empt boredom, but to make your cardio abilities that much more awesomesauce.

try an exercise ball or some free weights. Resistance training (weights and bands) is more beneficial when trying to lose weight.

Do you have friends or family you can have watch the baby while you go to the gym? Trade favors or something?

Or how about mommy and me workout videos?
