dehydration = weight gain?

ive "gained" about 3 pounds in the past 2-3 days. I know theres no way i really GAINED that much and i assume its water weight mixed with just weight fluctuation maybe. but i havent eaten anything high in sodium or anything that would be an obvious trigger. however i havent been drinking nearly enough water. we ran out of bottled water (and i HATE the tap) so i was drinking tea (unsweetened lipton, and herbal teas) but only a few cups a day. so maybe a stupid question but could i have "gained" from not drinking enough water?

    I think it's likely your body is holding on to some extra water since it hasn't gotten as much from outside sources. Once you up your water intake again it should resolve itself pretty quickly.

    Dehydration doesn't cause weight gain. At most it can potentially lead to water retention (which it does for me, even when I'm eating veyr low sodium), which can then lead to scale weight differences.
