Hi, I just started MFP yesterday...for the 3rd time. Hey, they say the third time's the charm. My 1st goal is to lose 100 lbs. Maybe more once I get there. One step at a time. It's overwhelming but, I've seen people on MFP who have done it so, I'm dedicated to changing my bad habits and getting healthier.
Several years ago I was diagnosed with unilateral breast cancer. I went through chemo, radiation and surgery. My oncologist keeps telling me I need to get healthy (i.e. lose weight). It's been hard because I have arthritis in my knees and lower back. It's a pain (literally) for me to walk for long distances. When I walk my dog, after 2 blocks my knees are screaming (even when they're wrapped). My dr. said to try yoga but, my knees say differently. Woe is me
Can you hear the violin playing in the background? OK, enough excuses. I've started dancing (with Richard Simmons and the Wii -Just Dance). Seems that I can do this. And the Wii is actually fun!
I've always been the kind of person who believes that I don't need help. With anything. I still believe it is ALL UP TO ME. But, maybe some support will help me keep my resolve. 30+ years ago I quit biting my nails. 21 years ago I quit smoking. Easy breezy, no problem. This year I will quit eating badly (and too much).
I'm tired of feeling and looking bad. This time I HAVE to do this
