Yo-yo dieter and wanting to change my life...for good this time!

Hi everyone,
I´ve been lurking in the MFP forums for about two weeks now, which has given me a lot of insight and motivation from hearing other people´s stories. I figured that it´s finally time to start posting and being an active member of this site.
I call myself goal_girl_35 on here for two reasons. The first reason is because I feel like I always set weight loss goals and then once I reach them, I end up going back to my bad habits and putting the weight on again. So it seems that I am a serial goal setter..lol well I guess in this context that translates to a yo-yo dietier. And secondly, because I really do like to have goals in my life, and my overall goal is to be healthy, inside and out. Problems like high cholesterol run in my family, and I really want to look good, but also want to have healthy cholesterol levels.
I just turned 27 and I am 5´8.5´´and haven´t weighed myself, but I am about 160 pounds and currently wear a US size 10. Although I am not overweight, because of my bad food choices, my body has a very high fat composition. 13 years of seriously overeating junk food everyday has taken it´s toll on my body, and I would like to reverse the negative physical and health effects. The only reason I do not weigh over 200 pounds, is because about once per year I work on my health and fitness for about a month or two, which keeps my weight down. Yo-yo dieting is not how I want to live anymore.
I would like to be able to maintain this as a lifestyle, but that has always been hard for me, since I am an emotional eater. It´s what I do when I am lonely or bored, so that is the number one thing I am fighting against.
So finally, my goals are to 1) get to and maintain the weight of around 140 pounds, 2) be toned and 3) have healthy cholesterol levels.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I think for the most part I just had to get this out there, to make myself accountable.

Yo yo could be my middle name but being much older than you I decided I had to stop the yo yo to be as healthy as possible. Cutting the carbs and making up a lot the the calories with fat is what I am trying after a lot of reading since summer and the weight is slowly coming off but I feel much better and more active already with more weight to lose.
It was not easy at first to cut all food with added sugar and/or grain but a couple weeks after I did the sugar craving went away. Use Google and keep reading and over time you will evolve a plan to test. Remember what works for another may or may NOT work for you. Point there are no MAGIC diets. This time down I am losing about 10 pounds and holding for maybe a month or two to let my body readjust to my new eating lifestyle and the old skin to tone up a bit.
Best of luck.0 -
