Is this possibly shoe related?

I have been jogging for a few months now and recently worked my way up to a slow (4.5mph) jog for 30 minutes. 10 of it is at 5.5mph.
After my last run on Wednesday the top of my foot was burning and it's still incredibly sore. I have a good pair of Nike running shoes, so I don't know if this is shoe or if I injured something up there?
Anyway ever experience top of the foot pain after a run? I would hate to buy new shoes and it not be the shoes.

I agree with this. If the burning is inside the top of your foot, you may have an injury. This could be at least partially the result of wearing the wrong shoes. If it's on the surface, it may just be a chafing issue that could be caused by socks, shoes, or even a piece of leaf/dirt/rock. In either case, you need to take a rest and see if it heals before you get back out there. I injured my knee about six months ago and a doctor told me it was likely due to the combination of adding too many miles too quickly, my weight, and my age. I can't fix my age, but I've now lost 40lbs and am back to running and gradually increasing the mileage. Some of us are injury prone, and we have to be extremely careful if we want to run distances. The key is to recognize the difference between an injury and a standard ache/pain. Only you can figure that one out. A couple of days off may help you make that determination.

This is VERY true. It could be a LOT of things..
- Are you lacing your shoes too tight?
- Too loose?
- Do the shoes fit properly (i.e., have you been fitted)?
- Have you increased your mileage or pace too quickly?
- Have you had your running gait analyzed for the shoes you are wearing?
- Sock friction?
There are too many different things to list. First, you should try ice and rest to see if your foot feels better. If so, I would recommend a professional fitting from a running shoe store.
If you are getting too much pressure from the tongue/upper of the shoe, you can try ladder lacing your shoes; this will take some pressure off of the top of your foot.

I think to ease your pain, you should find the tallest high heels and little black dress, and strut around in them for the day,,, you will feel better.0
