What gives?

Hi everyone...
Little confused... I started eating 1400 for weigh loss and got down to a good weight to maintain. Upped to 1800-1900 and was maintaining. I lowered my intake to around 1500-1700 and lost a little. However, now I am maintaining on that with fluctuations going up or maintaining. What gives? Why was I able to maintain before on a higher amount? What should I do?

When you stay at a low calorie level for a prolonged period of time, your body recognizes the calorie reduction and responds by reducing your metabolism. When I finished my weight loss, I was maintaining at 1800 cal/day. If you want to get your maintenance calorie level back up, do a reverse diet and slowly add calories into your diet over time. I've been doing that and now I'm maintaining weight at 3300 cal/day.0
