Of what? Exercise? What kind do you like? Start there.

How many pounds do you have to lose? If you have 40 lbs. to lose, I'd say 40 weeks would be good. That being said, I have 20 to lose (perhaps more), and I have been losing slower, so I'm on week 24 (172 days). Many people are here to maintain after weight loss, so that's ... forever.

Oh, also, there are 7 days every week. I don't take days off, even if I do go over on some days.

    Nevermind. I re-read your question.

I started by walking 3 times a week for 30 minutes. After two weeks of trying, I was able to do this pretty well and I enjoyed it. It didn't feel like two much. So I started going for more walks and walking longer. I now walk most days and for 45-60 minutes and I'm loving it. It has boosted my weight loss, too.

Exercise is for health and counting calories is for weight loss. Exercise is not essential for weight loss.
