I've heard that blueberries are "negative calorie" foods. I have a friend who just started dieting. She use to binge a lot, but she's replaced it now with binge eating blue berries. BOXES at a time. I told her that the excess calories are still "excess". Any views on this?

You are right, boxes of blueberries still have calories. No such thing as negative calories.

    Yes blueberries have calories nutritiondata.self.com/facts/fruits-and-fruit-juices/1851/2

As does celery and any other 'negative calorie' food

Perhaps you could help your friend by taking her to an ED support group.

Whole foods take more energy to digest, but it is minimal and there is no negative calorie food. Urban diet myth maybe....but I am sure that is she was bingeing bad for you food before and she is bingeing on blueberries now, she is probably working at a comparative deficit. Her thinking about food does need to be addressed though.
