Menus?

I need some ideas for menus...does anyone have a good source or just some good ideas? I love to break out the bbq grill :) I was raised on good ole down home cooking....i.e. fat laden, high calorie foods but am trying to stay away from all of that, of course. My kids don't like raw foods for nearly every meal so we need some yummy, healthy alternatives. Besides, if I have a menu written out, my family is 99.8% less likely to eat the things we shouldn't eat. Suggestions?

I find lots of good stuff on Skinnytaste.com and on Pinterest! I menu plan myself!

I do the majority of the cooking in my house. I am easily bored with anything. This includes food. The best thing I have found was re-introducing myself to my spice rack. You can cook all the same things you find to be healthy and not get bored with them because of a different flavor combination. If you grill a lot... well then good for you. I love the grill. Try changing to rubs instead of sauces. Good luck
  • Pinterest for sure. If you need an invite let me know.

Definitely hit up Pinterest! I often will start with a lean protein and then develop a meal from there, adding in lots of veggies and some sort of whole grain starch or potatoes. It's how I developed my never fail ground turkey and rice casseroles! Mexican style or Italian style they are like stuffed bell pepper casseroles without the hassle of stuffing. So good! :)

So many people go their entire lives without realizing this, so good for you!

All the above suggestions are great, skinnytaste, pinterest, allrecipes, etc.

    Good luck!

Dashingdish.com has some amazing healthified recipes based on comfort foods, but revamped!
  • Thanks all! I try to avoid Pinterest because it is a black hole...it may take hours to find my way out of it! However, in the name of healthier eating I will check them all out

ZIPLIST My favorite site and app! you can collect all your recipes there (from any site) and you can plan out your menu and create your grocery list all in the same place.

We do a lot of chicken and fish because we are going low carb. Our faves include chicken fajitas, grilled pork chops Athenian style, skeak and shrimp shish-ka-bob, and lemon-pepper tilapia friends in a bit of olive oil.

Skinnytaste.com, sparkpeople.com and Ziplist are life savers for me. I used to menu plan but fell out of the practice. It's time to start again!!
