This was just "ok" - I think they were trying too hard.

Edit - ok - no idea how to turn the picture - it wasn't sideways on my computer?

true, trying too hard, and ok, because it's imbalanced and uses extracts for flavoring.

That's a nice color of pepto pink though.

There is a nice brewery in Portland that specialises in oak aged, blended sour beers. The name escapes me at the moment, but we tried a half dozen this summer - quite potent.

We hit a few breweries, but our favorite was Pints.

No, Voodoo Donuts does make real crappy donuts.

We're just talking about a marginal beer based on mediocre donuts and a ton of hipster buzz.

I think that if you get them fresh, VooDoo Donuts are pretty good. A friend and I shared a hot "*kitten* and balls" and it was delicious. But the leftovers the next day were stale and gross. I think that's just the way it is with donuts, and unfortunately I think a lot of the donuts at VooDoo sit out for hours before they're bought.

Not for nothing- but please don't assign negative things to a food when you purposefully have gone with out for so long.

People go on "diets" (often low fat).. and induldge in a pizza- or burger- that's high in fat- and wind up with the squirts and then say- ON THE BAD JUNK FOOD PIZZA IS BAD FOR MY BODY.

    No. it's not.

But you drastically changed how you were eating- then re-introduced something wiht a completely different structure- and expect your body to be okay with it.

If I stopped eating veggies for 6 months- and only eat meat and minimal carbs- guess what- if I ate a big old bag of broccoli- you'd be my body would react poorly.

But it's not because the broccoli is inherently bad. It's only because my body went WAIIIT A HOT MINUTE_ I"M NOT USED TO THIS.

    sorry.

I'm off my soap box now.
^ Thiiiiis. My boyfriend does not eat vegetables, and I imagine if he was to eat a salad or a vegetable of some sort he probably wouldn't feel too hot. On the flipside, if I had bacon, egg and cheese bagels, pizza, and cheese steaks on the daily like he does, I probably wouldn't feel well. It's all about that balance

I was mostly entertained when they covered it on food network several years ago because they have a vaguely human shaped doughnut that is served with a pretzel stick so that you can use it as a "voodoo doll". And they have some doughnuts at the time that seemed pretty crazy like maple bacon and oreo, but those types of flavors have since become much more common at non-chain doughnut shops.

I essentially waited long enough that it's now a common fad and I don't have to travel as far for it.

There's a local chain here in town that blows voodoo out of the water. We did a side by side, day old stuff from here vs. fresh from Voodoo.

    Wasn't even fair.

Thats why we locals don't go to VooDoo... Heavenly Donuts is much better tasting and you don't have to fight the tourists that wait in line around the block. It's too bad VooDoo doesn't make their ish better....they bring in a lot of money.

Means they don't have to make it any better, they get the volume anyway. Making the product better would be a waste of resources.
