I have been trying to eat healthier and watch what i eat for about1 year now.

It's been a tough process, I always start out strong and slowly put things off or fade away. Needless to say I haven't had any substantial weight loss and have stayed around the same weight (thankfully!)

I'm normally pretty good at watching what I eat, logging and working out.

My problem I think is my binge eating where I will go home and eat 2 meals before dinner. I was wondering if anyone has any tips to not have this huge hunger at the end of the day or any advice of those who have this similar problem.

Is it actual hunger? Or do you eat those meals out of habit? I've found that habits can be very strong and ingrained and can trick us into believing they are real. But, all habits can be changed or broken.

If you are truly hungry, then maybe spread out your meals more evenly during the day. And, if you eat more in the afternoon then maybe don't eat an evening meal in addition to it. Sorry, more details are needed, if you care to share.

It's not really binging if you just say eff it and eat anyway.

    But. Regardless.

I ALWAYS want a snack when I get home- almost the second I walk in the door- it's I think a habit from when I was a child- it's pretty hard wired.

I tend to push all my food back to later in the afternoon- my first meal isn't till 1 or so.
Then I can eat later in the afternoon- and when I get home.

I always eat more at night. I can take or leave eating during the day . . .so I leave it. It's all about calories consumed, not the length of the period of time in which you eat those calories.

It's hard to tell. I feel like I get home and snack because i'm hungry but haven't cooked dinner yet. Then it just feels like I never get full. So personally I don't think it is habit or eating because I'm bored, but i may very well be ha!

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I don't eat enough calories or have enough meals during the 9 hours throughout the day before I get home and when I do get home and eat. I will eat a lot more then I should.

JoRocka thanks for the tip, that's not a bad idea to push meals out. I think it may be hard wired in me too. I didn't mean it like eff it I'll eat anyways, I just get home at 5 and we don't eat dinner until 6 or 7 so I always find myself snacking even when I don't want to!

When you say "we" do you mean family? Is there a way to start eating dinner earlier? Personally, I'd be hungry before then, too! Then, of course, it's hard to pass up dinner when you can smell it and it's on the table (or in the kitchen) or whatever. The main thing is you know what the issue is; now to try to find a solution.

Problem with THAT solution is... dun dun dun- average person goes to bed after 9- closer to 10.

That leaves 3 hours open for snacking.

I make sure I have room to eat when I come home (as in- I haven't eaten in 3 or so hours)

It's rare I go home straight from work- typically it's straight to the gym- or straight to the ance studio... the days I walk in my front door at 5 PM- I'm ravenous- and I'm super cranky that my stupid BF is like "meh- I'm not that hungry" like BIT^H I've been starving all day for dinner- when are we going to eat!!! <RAGEQUIT>

So- otherwise- I just push back my food to allow me to "end load" my day with food.

I'm not really hungry in the AM anyway so it works out pretty well.

I have the same problem, I overeat, idk if that is the same as binge eating. So for the last 5 days I've been doing 23 hour water fasts. Usually 9pm to 8pm the next day. I find that I am not really even hungry through out the day, the habit of eating is so ingrained I still feel like I've eaten breakfast and lunch even though I haven't in almost a week. I do like having only an hour to eat so I am not tempted during the day to eat for no reason. A lot of times I still don't "feel" full even though I consume all ~1500 kcal during that meal. I am trying to break the habit of eating for the same of eating.

BZAH10. Makes sense good to set a time or figure out a way to eat earlier or to find a filling healthy substituent snack that I can either eat before or after dinner.

JoRocka. Yes that is true, those are prime snacking hours. Definitely agree with you on the significant other. Worse thing is when you get home ready for the meal and the girlfriend does that. Idk what I want to eat, I'm not that hungry! But I could do that, save my calories for the later part of the day and plan it out so I still don't eat too much and go over my allotted calories.
