Personal trainer NSV

So, I had my first session with a personal trainer today. This in itself is an NSV because I am still fairly new to lifting and it is my little secret.
However, my deadlifts never really felt right so I figured I could get help. And I did it although it costs money that a family of 7 never has, and although I needed my husband to get home from work early to watch the kids, and although I am suffering from the typical mom "me do something just for me?!" syndrom, and although someone might see me, and although I know hardly anyone who lifts, and although there was the possibility that the trainer finds me ridiculous.
And here is the NSV #2, because not only did I do it, I also ENJOYED talking about the perfect deadlift for 45 minutes A LOT. I wish I had time to go to the gym now and do some deadlifts just for fun.
Plus the trainer was actually really helpful. Two mistakes I did: doing more a squat-deadlift hybrid. Second, going too low because the plates are small and the bar is low down. Probably, if I had gone higher on the weight (hence bigger plates), it would have become easier because the lower part gives me back pain...

Good job! Showing up is step one
If you are lifting at home - Stack some 2x4s on each side under the bar to get it to the right height for a 45 lb plate, until you are ready for the 45s for real. If you are lifting in the gym, see if they have the "spacer" kind (size of 45 lb but only weigh 10-20 lbs). If not , just stack a few smaller plates up until you can put the bar at the right height to start with.

Thanks! Yeah, I will have to find a good tweak there - and I do it in an apartment complex gym, kind of like home.0
