Asian Bmi caculator

hi everyone,
so I found out that East Asian countries use a different bmi calculator than Canada/America does. the Canadian/American Bmi calculator says that I am at a healthy weight and not even borderline overweight, but the Asian bmi calculator says that I am very close (2 or 3lbs) to being overweight. to be honest I am a little hurt to be told that I am borderline overweight--I am Chinese and living in Canada, so I thought the Asian bmi calculator is the one I should be using. I weighed 127lbs when I got out of the sauna and was also hungry, and I am 5 foot 3, medium frame body, plus thunder thighs. for the Canadian/American bmi calculator, being one pound overweight for my height would mean reaching 141lbs I believe.
I am currently working very hard to lose weight even though no one thinks I am fat. I have lost so much weight already, but I feel that I should keep going
anyways, what are your thoughts on this? my friend has told me that I should listen to the Canadian/American bmi calculator, so i'm not 100% sure which bmi calculator I should be listening to now.

Go by how you feel not a tool.0
-
it doesn't change how you feel in yourself - so ignore it
you're still within a healthy weight range
BMI is a tool that is only useful in conjunction with self-knowledge, body fat %, measurements, clothes fitting etc0 -
With everyone else here, forget the tool, use the mirror!0

Agreed with everyone else. Perhaps get your fat % measured, it will be a more accurate estimate of where you are.
Although, I have to say I am not surprised there is an Asian BMI that is different than the western one.0 -
The BMI calc is the same but Asian ethnicities are given a lower target for health on account of a tendency for central adiposity and visceral fat. So the same % of Asians of 23 BMI might be expected to get say heart disease as white Europeans at 25 BMI
I'm not 100% sure what the definition of "Asian" though as in the UK we use that term for India, Pakistan etc but less so for China - a bit of research required.0 -
There are some ethnic differences and Asians have a higher probability of health problems at a lower BMI, which is why some of the Asian countries have set suggested BMI lower by a point or two. Because of that, I would suggest paying attention to the Asian BMI suggestion, but keep in mind that BMI is just the first of several indicators of whether a person is at a healthy weight or not.0

You should not listen to any BMI calculator. If you want to know what is right for you, have your body fat percentage measured. If you don't know where to get measured (or don't feel comfortavle doing it) you can eyeball it using these examples: http://www.builtlean.com/2012/09/24/body-fat-percentage-men-women/
If you're at around 25 % then you're good, from a health point of view, that is. Your personal goals might be different.0 -
I don't like your Asian BMI calculator either because it puts my hard-fought-for 27.4 back in the obese category. (Oh, and there's a South Asian calculator here. I'm simply above ideal there.) But here's the thing: As several posters above me have pointed out, BMI is a not a stand-alone tool. To BMI, it doesn't matter if your extra weight is fat or muscle or bone density. So don't worry about it.0

fark yeah! Finally made obese at 10% BF YEW!
If only I was Asian, I can speak a bit of Japanese, does that count?0
