Daily Recommended targets ?

Hey guys-

So I am fairly new to MFP and I was curious if you guys really try to stay within your targets for things other than calories- sugar, protein, sodium etc. I am not having any issues with my daily calorie target but I find myself obsessing a little bit trying to be within my other targets and find I am struggling a tiny bit.

I was curious if they need to be followed closely to lose the weight or if the main target is calories? It is definitely helping me figure out what my preferences are (sugar for sure!!) and I am trying to do the best I can but sometimes it is hard to meet those exact targets.
