10000 steps; 5'5 and ~125lbs?

Hello MFP-ers! I recently got a new smartphone that measures steps with a pedometer app. I have my activity level set to 'sedentary' and am lucky to hit 2-3000 steps on low activity days. Since I've been on uni holidays, however, I've had quite a few days of 10000+ steps from walking around doing gift shopping, walking to the park for lunch etc.
I was wondering, for women around my height/weight, what kind of calorie burn would you estimate for 10000 steps? The app estimated 750 calories for 22000 steps yesterday but that seems laughably high. I'm thinking of making a custom entry in the exercise database for days when I hit 10000 but don't want to overestimate. Maybe 100-150 calories added for 10000 steps? I'd love a few extra calories over the holidays for parties and such!
Are there any women here around my size who use a pedometer as well as a HRM, and if so what kind of numbers do you get for steps walked?
Thanks guys x

You can probably figure about 50-75 calories a mile, and a mile being maybe 2000-2500 steps, but don't add calories for your baseline amount. So if 3000 is baseline and you hit 10,000, figure 7000 steps is about 3.5 miles, times 75 = around 200-250 calories.0

You didn't say how tall you were...or your weight.0

Cool, I wonder if there is one that uses the metric system. It's estimating burns of 250+ calories for 10000 steps, which still seems high to me for something that doesn't really feel like exercise! I might play it safe and put in 150 per 10000. I'm still interested to know what people are getting on their HRMs0 -
That's pretty save yes. my step counter has 445 calories on it at the moment for almost 12000 steps. I always take half of it ( that is true) so 222 burned calories and from those i only eat half back.
my step counter is pretty the same as the treadmill i use daily. ( with heart rate monitor) so i am pretty safe lol.
btw i did my pace in it too. and i am the same height as you. Only my weight is much higher so i get a higher calorie burn amount.0 -

Sure, I get that, I was just trying to be wary of overestimating.0 -
my fitbit gives me around 350 for 10K but only starts logging them after about 4000 steps and I'm set to sedentary
I am much taller and heavier than you so I would allow 200 tops0 -
