hi all... i have question here - after 3 months of healthier diet (counting calories; better choices of food) and gym with personal trainer, my body fat % has dropped around 5% and body weight has drop approx 20 lbs, however the size of my waist remain the same in unhealthy range (high risk of diseases) - why is that? *DEPRESSED*

In my experience, it's very much a "first in, last out" thing. I always lose last from my stomach. Or at least the most slowly.0

For some people that's one of the last areas to go. There's no way of knowing where fat loss is going to come off your body. Surely you lost inches elsewhere?0

my trainer didn't measure other area in term of inches, but my clothes fits better now... so, I hope so! Hope I will lose the waist size eventually...0

You will lose from your stomach/waist. Here are two larger versions of the progress pics used in my main profile picture. This is only a 12ish lb difference too, but you can see that although my stomach (neither of these is sucked in) itself doesn't look that different - similar shape, still holding on to too much fat - my overall torso is smaller. I actually have a curved back now, whereas when I first started my torso was very thick.
And as a comparison, here is a before and after of my first weight loss journey years ago. I don't know if my before is actually me at my heaviest, I am pretty sure I gained more weight after this picture (this was my high school graduation, but I weighed in at 195 in about February of the next year and have no idea how much I weighed in the before)
This was a 50lb loss overall, and I recall not really losing from my stomach until the last few months of weight loss, or the last 20ish lbs probably. I have about 20lbs left to go now as well.0 -

thanks, and no problemIt definitely can suck when you feel like you aren't progressing in the ways you want, but if your clothes are fitting better then you're probably also just not noticing the difference. I definitely recommend taking pictures if you can, and also hold onto some clothing items that are too tight and keep trying them on. I'm wearing a pair of shorts that used to give me muffin top and now they just fit comfortably. I'm sure that once I reach my ideal body fat they will be loose. I have this issue with my upper arms as well, these are my two biggest problem areas and they always lose slowly!
