Food Goals - Question about protein

When logging foods, the bottom has a space to show you how much you have remaining for calories, fat, sugar, etc. Is there any reason going over your protein goal would be a bad thing?

    nope.

Protein is a minimum- and really unless you've edited- MFP's protein goals are usually WAY to low.
    - My goal is about 160 a day- I'm content with anything over 100-and happy when I hit over 130.

Not unless you are massively overdoing it day after day. But for you this would be something like eating 300-400 grams or more protein per day for months.

Only that it is unnecessary; excess protein turns to sugar in your body; protein is usually the most expensive of the macros; and carbs and fat taste delicious too.

    Everything in moderation and balance.

Getting enough protein is good. Getting a little extra protein isn't bad either. Getting WAY too much protein could send your body into ketosis and have health consequences, plus you're skipping the necessary fats and carbs to keep your body going too.

Most healthy adults need between 15-35% of their calories from protein. Super high protein intake doesn't have any scientifically proven benefits, and is probably bro science.

Personally, I find MFP's protein goal to be far too low especially because I am strength training. By the same token, I find the carb goal to be far too high. I went into my goals and adjusted them to fit my preferences.
