The easy answer is eat a calorie deficit as that is the answer to all "How do I lose weight?" questions.0

Are you now gluten free due to a medically diagnosed gluten sensitivity or celiac disease? If so, then from what I've read it's natural to gain weight at first because you're finally able to properly process the food you're eating which your body isn't used to doing.
If not, can I ask why you're cutting out wheat? Especially if you've gained weight on the diet I wouldn't continue it unless there are medical reasons. There's a lot of hype these days about gluten free and wheat free diets for weight loss and health for people who don't have a medical necessity for it and, unfortunately, it's not much more than poorly applied science (aka wrong) resulting in the latest fad diet.0 -

Yup. I eat GF, almost 5 years now, because it causes bad digestive symptoms for me. I've lost, maintained, and gained while being GF. Losing while GF now by just tracking my calories/macros.0 -
eat at a caloric deficit and keep an eye on the calorie counts (thank God for those!) for any gluten substitute foods you add to your diet.0

I've been researching celiac and gluten intolerance because I have another autoimmune that's been pretty highly correlated with celiac.
According to what I read, in a celiac patient, gluten does damage to the intestinal cilia, and in impedes proper digestion, specifically the absorption of fats. So it seems to me that (for people with the sensitivity) gluten has the effect of that "fat blocking" prescription weight loss drug people sometimes get. By extension, if you cut out the gluten, I'd guess you then absorb more fat (and calories) than you did before, now that your cilia are healed. So if you don't change anything about your caloric intake or output, you would gain weight.
That's why I always get confused by people who want to go gluten free to lose weight. Ceteris Paribus, if you don't have an insensitivity, nothing will happen. If you do, you will gain weight.
Unfortunately, you just have to eat less than you did before going GF, or exercise more.0
