Nutrition and Digestion

I have been trying to lose weight for some time now with moderate success (I'm down about 20 lbs. from my heaviest and want to lose another 20. I currently weigh 205 with a goal of 185.

I have found that it's not just about counting calories though. Nutrition is so important, perhaps even more so, especially when it relates to digestion. You could eat 2,000 calories of junk food and still feel miserable. This is the key as far as I'm concerned to losing weight.

There are some rules that I have developed that keep me off of the sugar/fat/salt merry-go-round.
  1. Never ever eat McDonald's (Hardees, Burger King, Wendy's, etc.) Even the healthiest choices are usually processed and marketed in such a way that keep you coming back and it's only a matter of time before you make worse choices. For me Moe's is about all I can tolerate.
  2. Along those same lines, watch for refined sugars and processed foods that have preservatives in them that keep you craving those foods. Why, for instance, does tomato soup have sugar added to it?
  3. Add a pro-biotic, preferably a powder such as Green Vibrance to your diet and you will, after a short time, start feeling better all around - less bloating, constipation, irritability and sleeplessness. The bad bacteria in your stomach that keep you craving sugar will be in check and no longer rule your life.
  4. If you fall off get back on. So you had a few cookies and some pumpkin pie. No big deal. Have a better day tomorrow.
  5. Exercise every day you can until you begin to like it. If running becomes an addiction for you like it has for me, so be it. There are worse things out there you could get hooked on.
  6. Get your rest. Manage your stress. Begin to love the new you.

I'd suggest you lift heavy while you lose weight. Also, be careful about restring certain foods or certain food types. Restrictive diets can lead to binges when you go off them, so just keep that in mind. That being said, do what you think is best for you and good luck.

Great attitude and perspective. Hopefully none of the plentiful D-bags come on here and try to put down your perspective.
