Is losing 20 pounds my first two weeks too much?

I'm 6'4 and I weighted 278 when I started my diet/exercising 2 weeks ago. I am now 257. I know that you lose a lot of weight when you first start your diet but does 20 pounds seem too drastic? Is it best to keep going with my current diet and see if it slows down? I don't want any health problems from losing weight too fast. Anyways I'm not usually hungry, and I don't skip a meal, I just eat food that is typically low calories and I also eat fruits/vegetables for snacks. I'm pretty sure I'm not hitting the 2080 calorie diet that I'm "supposed" to take but I feel like I'm eating enough where I feel find.

I started a bit bigger than you and lost 24 the first two weeks. Unfortunately is slows down after that initial surge but that doesn't seem to crazy to me. Just remember in a few weeks when you lose one or two that in the big picture you are still way ahead of the game.

A lot of it was probably water weight. Enjoy the scale victory, it'll even itself out soon.

You really need to be hitting the 2080 calorie mark at least, 6'4" is a pretty tall so you can tolerate alot more calories than you think. Its not so much to prevent healthy problems but to help you keep off the weight once you get to your goal weight. If you eat too little you will not be able to eat maintain your weight very well, if you have any questions feel free to message me

If you're not sure if you're hitting your calorie target, start tracking. The weight loss will slow down and, when it does, you'll be glad you have the tracking habit and the MFP feedback.

Some will tell you the first big loss is "only" water. Well, isn't it nice to not be carrying around 20 pounds of water? I'll bet you look and feel better already.

I eat more than you to maintain as a 5'6", 148 lb, 45 yr old woman. Believe me, you want to eat as much as you can while losing weight. As Chris said, you don't want to go too low as it gets tougher to eat at maintenance and also you need protein and calories to maintain your body.
