What is your height, weight, age, body fat%? What do you do for a living? What is your exercise routine like?

You should lose weight eating 1400 a day. Weigh your food, don't use the generic entries on this website.

    Lower your target weight loss

    Be more active

Both will give you more calories to eat

This. It's impossible to answer without knowing your stats. If you're extremely short then 1200 could be your TDEE. Doubtful, but it could happen.

When you answered the questions on MFP to set your goal, did you set it to lose 2 pounds per week, 1 pound, or 1/2 pound? If you feel the calories are too low, then change your goal.

It's hard to say without knowing your stats other than your age. As you're older, you need fewer calories to run your body, so 1400 could be too much depending on your height/weight.
