Shortest day of the year, Longest run of the year

Wow the year has gone by fast. I did say I wanted to run a 10 k this year and didn't get myself organized to go to one, so I figure, since today was the shortest day of the year, I should do my longest run of the year. I had been slowly increasing my distance a little at a time over the spring and summer, but kind of back slid in the late summer and fall. Trying to get back into form in spite of weather, illness and life getting in the way. Anyway, I have only been running for the past year and I am working on getting my weight down too, which the running is helping me to do. Today, while I was out I decided that since my prior best distance was 8.88 km, I would go and do a longer run to celebrate the solstice. I just finished 10.23 km in 1:25:59
Setting new personal best time for me for 10 km in 1:22:18 and new distance overall, calories burned and and longest time pb's too for this old fat guy. Not sure if this belongs here or in success stories as a NSV, but I am happy with myself anyway. Now where are those Christmas cookies my daughter has been baking all day long....

Good job! And don't sell yourself short on your goals. I am 57 with two hip replacements and started running less than four years ago and I have accomplished things that back then I thought were impossible.
