Strength cal or KJ burned app

Anyone know of an app for iphone that gives some indication of energy burned from lifting weights/strength training?

I realise that its a little difficult to work this out because there are a few variables. But all I'm after is an estimate really.

Basically weight, rep and sets=50-80 kj or something like that so i can keep track of and also have an estimate of energy burned.

MFP does both... enter "strength training" and amount of time in the cardio section to get a very rough estimate of cals burned from strength training... That said I would say the amount would be more accurate than using a HRM for lifting.
and enter exercise, sets and reps in the strength training section

It's nearly impossible to say as there are many, many variables (not just a few). Also, burning calories isn't the primary benefit of lifting, at least not for most people.

But if you need an estimate, I'd use 5 cals per minute. So if you lift for 60 minutes, that would be roughly 300 cals burned. If you tend to take long rests between sets/lifts, I'd probably reduce it a bit... bit it's as good a guesstimate as you'll get.

normally i would just ignore strength training, just leave it out as a bit of a buffer but i thought if there was a app for it that was decently accurate then i could maybe be more accurate in the recordings.

maybe i will just continue to ignore energy burned lifting and just enter the cardio exercises.
