Starting to feel like a broken record...

Here I am, 2 years after joining MFP and still haven't lost much. My husband and I had our first child in September and I was lucky enough to lose the weight I gained (14 pounds, 7 of it was her) in the first week but have since stalled.

I will go a few days in a row but am feeling like I cant do this. I don't want to be overweight anymore. I want to be a good role model for my girl but it is so hard, especially this time of year.
I am planning on getting back into running at the end of this week, usually that helps keep me motivated.

So, here we go again... day 1.

Welcome to day 1. I didn't do it, but I know that breastfeeding can make it more difficult for you to lose. Remember it won't happen overnight no matter how much you want it to. Just one day at a time, one workout, one meal.
Choose your nutrition wisely. And even if it's just you getting healthier, you have to do it for yourself.

Thank you for the good advice. :) Im not breastfeeding (not by choice, little miss had other plans).
I guess I just feel lost lately, not much support here besides my husband.

Here's to fulfilling goals in 2015
  • Congrats on your new baby! I lost when breastfeeding so maybe you will too. I agree with Pipsg1rl that you need to stick with your nutrition. Remember to stay within your allotted calories and fitting in exercise when you can. Perhaps do some light yoga when you wake up or before bed to start with. Good luck with day 1. You can do it as long as you don't give up.

Keep logging and give and accept "likes" from friends. We are all building habits for a lifetime. Habits take effort (unless they involve drugs or potato chips).

Just keep logging. Your thought processes will eventually change.

Are you getting enough sleep? Are you planning meals and logging what you eat and drink?
I found in the past when I wasn't getting enough sleep I would eat more and exercise less.
I've found it really helpful to log my whole day in advance.

For me, saying I am going to lose weight for my family or to be a good role model has never worked as motivation. I know a lot of people say that family is their inspiration or whatever and it sounds really noble. I realized that I have to just do this for myself. I realized making the continual effort is being a good role model not necessarily the result. It took awhile to get to that point. I want to be stronger because it feels really good. I want to be the healthiest person I can be for me because I deserve to live a healthy active life. I deserve to manage pain and stress without drugs.

Every day is a new day. Every day is day 1.

Keep after it. I have done the same thing and am currently working my way back to my last current low weight. Now that you have day 1 on the way, next time you think about falling off the wagon, remember today and keep yourself motivated to keep going.

This is a lifestyle change, and with your new lifestyle there will be good days and bad days, just don't let the bad ones pile up. If you have a bad one, forgive yourself and move on. Long term goals with short term set backs. You will meet your goal this time around!

One day at a time... if that's too much, one hour at a time. Don't have an "I haven't lost much" mentality, try to have a "I'm working on it" mentality. Then set mini goals for yourself through out the day. Instead of the potato chips, have some carrot sticks, go for a walk or dance like a crazy person for 5 minutes.

When you look at the BIG picture it's easy to get intimidated. You can't eat an elephant in one bite after all.

Keep going after your goals. I have lost 92 lbs and battled this my whole life. Don't concern yourself with prior setbacks just keep looking forward. Feel free to add me I will cheer you on.
