Sorry if I sound stupid, but how exactly does mfp helps you to loose weight? Like can you eat anything, just in moderation and as long as it is in your daily calorie intake? What if I just ate a chocolate? Should I just stop and give up, like all the other diets? I need help! I wanna loose 50lbs but I really don't know how to...

Log everything you eat. You'll notice a difference in what you choose to eat because lower-calorie foods tend to be more filling. It gives you a reality check. I lost weight - over 60 lbs so far, just by eating in moderation. Check out my diary if you want to see - I eat out and pizza and all that other yummy stuff too.
Just log EVERYTHING you eat. Welcome to MFP!0 -

Go here, follow the instructions and learn about TDEE/BMR.
You can eat anything and lose weight. You can eat the same foods you like just in smaller portions, though a lot of folks like whole foods 80% of the time to fill up on high volume and low calorie foods. Still doesn't mean you can't eat a snack or dessert every day if you include it!
Invest in a food scale. It's the most accurate way to measure your foods.
You do not HAVE to work out to lose weight, but exercise helps prevent loss of LBM (lean body mass) during the weight loss process, particularly strength training. Lifting heavy weights is optimal (and will NOT bulk you up), but body weight programs are helpful too. Cardio has myriad benefits, like heart health, as well.

MFP is not really helping you with diets or something like that, if and how you diet is up to yourself. What MFP does is show you how much calories you eat (if you log correctly) and where your everyday-diet goes wrong. The first week when I logged was terrible because I always ate the wrong foods. So my calories were always somewhere above the 2000 with no excercise and way too much sugar. Thanks to MFP I see now that my everyday food was wrong, so I changed by eating more raw vegetables and fruit and that is how MFP helped me to change my relationship with food.
If you want to lose weight you have to realise what you have to eat to become healthy. It's better to change your lifestyle than to start a diet and stopping the diet whenever you reach your goal.
Welcome and good luck!0
