I would like to treat myself to a piece of fried whiting 2night for my birthday. I am not sure how to log this. I prepare it with cornmeal and vegetable oil. Do I log the fish, the amount of cornmeal and just guess the amount of oil I used?? I want to make sure I am getting as close to accurate as possible

Logging each ingredient separately/individually will generally get you close.

I guess you could measure or weigh the oil before you cook the fish, then measure or weigh the oil after you cook the fish. The difference is the amount of oil that is now in the food that you will eat (less any that drips off of it while it cools, I suppose). I don't know any other way to accurately calculate how much oil you consumed.

Weight of oil pre cooking-weight of oil post cook=weight of oil in food. Calculate calories of weight of oil in food now+calories of ingredients in food=total calories of meal.

Something like that. I am not a math person...

I read somewhere (of course I can't find the link now) that you use about 5% of the oil in the pan when frying something.

I realize this is worthless without a link.
