Aw she is a cutie! My cat's don't go outside (to unsafe here and no way they would go on a leash - if you put anything on them you would think that they are wearing a 50 lb pack - they just lay down and stay there). That is cool that she will go on a leash - if she really likes it that will be great for you - not sure how the bike rides will do but good luck!

The fact that she wasn't a ball of claws and teeth means it went well.

Cute!! I grew up with outdoor cats that came and went as they pleased. My cat now is indoor, I have considered taking him out on a leash but I'm afraid he will develop a liking for going outside and start to bolt for the door when I open it :\

She likes to sneak out sometimes, so I figured if I got her a little harness and a leash and she goes outside with my permission it may get it out of her system a little.

Yeah, I was thinking basket would be the way to go - mine would be out of there immediately - they aren't big fans of even being carried in a basket (I've tried it when they sleep in the laundry basket). It is good that she is such an open minded cat! I have always wished that I had tried to leash train at least one of them when they were younger, but even when they were little they were not really tolerant of having things on them (ok, I admit I got them to wear little costumes for the Christmas card one year - but it was not easy at all and they all hated it - that is how I know it would be a bad idea).

Awesome pics! Lilo is so cute in her shirt and that is a great picture of the two of you. Nice that you don't have to stand next to the tree with a cat hiding in it (which is what it is like here at our house and part of why we didn't do a tree this year) When I try to put an outfit on them I get things like this:

Barney was not happy - I like to call it the sad little elf.

Both of my kitties take walks with us, we tried to leash thing, it didn't work. Instead they just follow us meowing warnings of danger the whole way. Kinda cute. When we go on walks to the river we do lock them up in the bedroom.

I want to get a Russian blue cat - I understand they love being on a leash and going for walks. Also, they're trainable. Benefits of dogs without the drawbacks. ;-)

My last cat was leash and harness trained. He started like he was wearing a 50-lb pack too but got over it pretty quick. He would also go and pull his leash off the coat rack when I asked him if he wanted to go outside.

I have a Loki that used to love going for walks on a leash but she never got over the sound of traffic going by. My street is too busy for her. She was hit by a car before i got her and i think that has her traumatized.

All you have to say is OUT and she sits by the door.

She does however love going for car rides. When i open the car door she jumps in the passenger seat and curls up until after i start driving. Then she sits up and watches everything.

I hear they are trainable, and so are Maine coons, but they are big cats.

Lilo isnt as fond of the car, but she used to like to get out of the house.....so thats why I got her a leash so now she can come out. I live in a city so its dangerous for her to be out and about by herself.
