I've been eating over my sugar allowance about 15 g. Is that ok? Or should I lower my sugar intake?

Where did your sugar allowance come from and how many grams is it? What foods are you eating that contain sugar...natural or processed?
15gms sugar = 60calories. Now if your allowance is 100gms an extra 15gms you can do without......0 -
I'm always over on sugar but 99% of the time it's from fruit, and I have absolutely no issues with that. I'm not going to eat less fruit because it puts me over the sugar counter here. As a matter of fact, I just turned off the sugar tracking and replaced it with fiber. :-)0

It was set based on some recommendation - 15% of calories http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1375583-a-message-about-myfitnesspal-s-updated-nutrition-goals0 -

The problem is that the USDA guideline refers to added sugars, and the MFP database tracks total sugars. Not the same thing. I eat a lot of fruit and almost no added sugar, and I am over pretty much every day. Honestly, I just ignore it.0 -

MFP's 15% of calories is not based on "added sugars". http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/11812590 -

Yes, that was my point.
USDA, AHA, and WHO recommendations all refer to added sugars. You can't just extrapolate that to total sugars. There is currently no basis for limiting total sugar to 15%, or the above mentioned agencies would do so.0 -

15g seems low! MFP factors in added sugar as well as sugar from fruit, which can throw off your allowance. Do you have a medical reason for reducing sugar so low, or did you set that limit yourself?0
