I've had diastasis recti for atleast 4 years when you look back at my before and progress pics, but its was just recently diagnosed when the pain from it got so intense. as ive researched and struggle through this, and come to learn that most people don't experience this amount of pain and discomfort, so its not taken as seriously as it should be. nothing helps, not sitting, standing, sleeping, laying. when your core is unstable, everything you do hurts. but no one can see what hurts, so its taken with a grain of salt. so much so that even the insurance companies feel the repair of diastasis recti via abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is "clinically insignificant", and wont cover it. By now I know anyone reading this who is going through or has gone through it knows exactly what im talking about, and YOU are who I need responses from. quite honestly, I want the surgery. ive spent years trying to close this gap but its not closing and its from the top to bottom of my stomach. but consultation provided a $7,500 price tag and without insurance to help, I don't know how I will ever pay for it. I don't know what to do. my sister suggests reaching out to talk shows, but im not sure I want to make a big scene on national TV about my diastasis issues, especially with so many women walking around excited because they closed their gap without surgery that now even the talk show host don't see the need for surgery. all the programs and techniques aren't helping and the splinting has the side effect of, well, not being the actual muscles needed to hold my body together, so it just really feels like im holding the muscles in all day from the sides, which makes my ribs ache. I continue to try different things everyday because im not gonna give up, but if anyone can give me some help on how to get this surgery paid for, or Surgeons in Nashville, Tn with great payment plans, or anything, please share. im not shunning any help though, so even those who have closed their gap on their own who have suggestions that I may not have heard of yet please respond as well. I need ideas and it only makes since to come to my Pals. Thanks everyone.
