Using my fitness pal with the fit bit

I just recently got a Fitbit as a gift and I'm not sure how to log my exercise. My fit bit is synced with my fitness pal so I'm not sure if I should be logging my exercise in my fitness pal for fear of doubling up? Does anyone know? I'm assuming the steps on my Fitbit would already be logged as calories burned? I can see if I swam (so steps couldn't be recorded on my fit bit) I would have to input that information in my fitness pal?? So confused....

MFP has a Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Do not log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both.

Anything logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit data during that time.

You can choose to log exercise on either fitbit.com or here on MFP.

Either way you will be asked about start time & duration so that it can overwrite the fitbit burn for that time period.

    Logging on MFP:
    - Shows in newsfeed that you worked out
    - Chance of the sync to fitbit changing the start time of the workout (I've had it happen...it's a pretty random glitch) and essentially causing a double up of calories
    - Exercise diary will have logged exercise and a fitbit adjustment

    Logging on Fitbit:
    - Will not show up in the newsfeed on MFP
    - The start time of logged exercise won't change (so no double dipping because of a random glitch)
    - Only Fitbit Adjustment will be in exercise diary

As for what to log. Anything that is not step based will need to be logged.
