So, I think you guys get the gest! In 82 Days I am going to Florida. I weigh 150 pounds and would like to lose 20-30lbs before I leave. I've started counting calories and going to begin running and try to get on to a gym. Any tips or advice? Thanks!

What is your height and weight?

That is about 7 pounds a month you have to lose, which is do-able!

If you don't have a food scale, get a food scale. Weigh everything you eat before you eat to to make sure you can be as accurate as possible. Drink plenty of water. I'd highly recommend you start lifting heavy if you aren't already.
  • I weigh 150 pounds and 5'4! Awesome

I second the food scale suggestion! Start weighing and measuring everything, within reason, and log it on here DAILY. Even if you eat a lot of food at a family dinner, just add a total amount estimate for that meal. I started doing this and it really works at getting you into the reality of what you're eating.

Your goal is a little high for the 82 days you have allotted, so don't be disappointed if you don't reach it. 10lb is a reasonable expectation given your weight and the amount you wish to lose.

A healthy goal would be .5lb a week, but you may be able to lose 1lb if you are vigilant in both your calorie counting and exercise.

Get a scale and weigh all your food, this will give you greater accuracy.

If you are using MFP for logging your exercises, eat back 50-75% as it tends to be generous with its calories burnt estimate.

Adding some kind of strength training 2-3 times a week may help you reshape your body.

Have a wonderful trip to Florida.
    Happy holidays, h.

you get a special kitchen scale-made for weighing food. It's much more accurate for figuring out calories. Then you log weight (rather than volume) in your food diary.
