What to eat with an absess in gums?

Over the holidays I developed an absess and now since it popped, I am using gauze most of the day in the mouth. I am leery of some foods and wonder if anyone has had this issue and what they did?
I know to visit the dentist and was told they couldn't do anything until the swelling goes down and the infection gone. I am very nervous about the thought of losing a tooth. I clean my mouth all day it seems and still gum disease still wants to be in my mouth.
While you wait for a healthier mouth, what do you eat or not eat?

If you find it hard to chew food, I suggest you try soups or broths of some sort. ICECREAAAMMMM

Hope your mouth gets better soon :)

Soft foods and foods that are not spicy/tangy, as that will sting and irritate abscess.

    Pudding
    Ice cream
    Soup
    Jello
    Yogurt
    Cottage cheese
    Cooked vegetables
    Bananas
    Applesauce
    Popsicles
Salmon is soft and easy to chew

Recently had the same problem and almost lived on greek yoghurt with lemon curd!

a good saline solution at about 13% would be solid.

Acids are always good too, mild ones. ACV is like 6% acetic acid.
