I am new to this, i have been doing my own thing since being told i have type 2 diabetes, and lost 22 kilos in 6 months, but i had slowed down a lot since i had a major fall and had smashed my elbow which was plated and pinned, i am back on track again with physio etc, and now some exercise.
But I do have a question, when you put all your height weight etc in and it gives you the goal calories to use etc, does that mean you have to eat to or above that number, does it matter if you are a bit under that goal? Thanks

It depends. You should not go below 1200 calories unless you are supervised by a physician. An occasional low day won't hurt if you are getting all your nutrients. Your Dr. should set up an appt. for you to see a registered dietician for your diabetes. Good luck and Happy New Year./ Cindy0

Been to a dietician.. but she was happy with what I was doing b4 I started this program... I think this program has me looking into the counts etc.. I think it is confusing.. but will figure it out... one thing I found out, is how much salt is in everything we eat, that was one thing she told me to avoid... I stopped using salt.. but its everwhere, hate to think what how much I used prior to this diet, my mind boggles and that..lol

Type diabetes doesn't run in my family: it gallops! My mother, all her siblings AND both parents. I told my doc it wasn't a question of IF I am going to get it, but rather WHEN. Other things also tipped the odds as well. The tricks I found is moderation and measuring. That means using measuring cups and a scale for foods. Read labels. See what you are really eating. The ingredients are listed in order. Whatever is the highest % ingredient is listed first. Look for fife rent names of the same thing. Fructose is sugar, glucose is another sugar. Many other names for it as well so look at the fancy chemical names for similarities. Read up.0

thanks for the advice, still trying to figure it all out, but with the help of a dietician i am getting there, label reading is a much, i cant believe what crap is in everything...
