Decided to start studying to be a personal trainer

Hello all,

After losing 36 kg over the past 8 months and going to the gym nearly everyday and doing a range of classes I have developed a love for it and have started studying this so I can help other people having been there myself.
I am concerned that I will find it hard going into an industry that mainly consists of people who have always been healthy and fit.
Would you prefer a trainer that had always been fit or someone that is still on their journey and only recently developed this passion?

    Hey there,
It's a great thing to want to do!! I'm on the same path as yourself, I've just applied for a personal trainer course!
If anything, you are in a better position to train people that are trying to loose bodyfat because you gave the life experience to draw from and relate to them on a personal level!!

I wish you the very best throughout 2015!!

That's great! You two should definitely go for it! Personally I'd like a trainer that has gone through the struggle so they would understand the difficulties we have.

I've been training to be a personal trainer for most of 2015 and have my training with AFAA next month. Last fall I passed group fitness instructor with ACE and Aqua certification with AEA. I'm also a licensed Zumba instructor. I did all those in 2014 and this year I'm hoping to find some paying work to get a return on my investment. lol

I know there is a need for female personal trainers and for trainers to work with people who have arthritis or are in the burgeoning older population, so I say go for it. If you have a passion for healthy living and can be empathetic with people's struggles, you should be successful.
