Sports bra advice from women with very large breasts

I started a new account just to ask this question.

I am looking for a sports bra that will lock the girls down completely. I would like some separation if at all possible so I don't have icky sweat issues. I currently wear an underwire bra with 2 stretch over the head compression type sports bras. This is not good solution--it's a little hard to breathe & I still have more movement than I would like. I have a 34" underbust measurement & a 46" bust measurement. My normal bra size is 75J (I wear Ewa Michalak PL & S styles), which should convert to a 34HH since she runs a little small in the cup in those styles.

I am doing my shopping online (of course) so I cannot go & try them on. I have been reading & it looks like there are a couple choices:
1) Freya Active Underwire Sports Bra
2) Elomi Energise Underwire Sports Bra
3) Shock Absorber Max Wire Free Sports Bra
4) Enell custom made sports bra

Has anyone out there actually run in any of these bras & can give a positive recommendation? Right now I am leaning towards the Shock Absorber--it is on sale at herroom. I like that the straps look padded & I like how they angle towards the middle of the back so it looks like they won't slip off your shoulders, but I'm worried about that upper set of clasps. How do you get that hooked? I have never been able to put a bra on & then reach around back to hook it--I have to hook it around my waist, twist it around, then flip it up to where it goes. I'm just not at all flexible.

Does anyone have any other recommendations in my size?

You want the Shock Absorber Run bra. It's amazing. And definitely go into a shop to try it on. You put the upper set of clasps together then pull it over your head. It takes a bit of practice but that's what you get with an item of clothing that is basically scaffolding. Good luck!

Im a 34GG and have had shock absorbers and found them to be quite good. Im currently wearing one from Bravissimo, theyre a decent price and if you can get to the shop the fitters are excellent at making sure you get the right size

Seconded, I only use shock absorber bras (got about ten of them). They do take a bit of practice to get on but there's practically no bounce at all, even when trail running.

i am a US38M (UK38JJ) or so (need to be refitted since weight loss). the ONLY and i mean ONLY bra that works for me, ever since i was an H cup, has been the Enell. standard size (use their size chart). any other brand recommended that i've tried - even the shock absorber etc - didn't hold me down for one second. seriously, you would not believe the pain. i move a little bit in the Enell right now because it's poorly fitted at the moment, but when it was a proper fit, the girls didn't move an inch. it's like the most awesome comfortable straightjacket anyone could ask for and allows full range of movement!

UK 36FF here.... and a shock absorber girl. I also recommend trying to get to a bravissimo for a fitting. I was shocked at the difference between having a bra fitting and being measured.

I need another fitting soon though as the last time I got fitted was well over a year ago and my sports bra is hanging on by a hook and eye! I do wear them to death LOL.

Thanks ladies! I have ordered the Shock Absorber Women's Extreme Support Sports Bra Top #4490--the only Shock Absorber that goes to my cup size. I've also e-mailed Enell to see if they think I can stuff myself into a #3 size bra--it's only 1" too big in the band & 1" too small in the cup. The Shock Absorber will be here Monday. I'll give it the ultimate test & get on the rebounder

I wanted to update this in case it comes up in someone else's search. I hate to search for threads & get no resolution. I received the above Shock Absorber in a 34hh. I got the all black one (sometimes that makes a fit difference). I am able to fasten it in the front like I do with my regular bras. I twist it back around & pull it up. I just have to be a contortionist to get my arms & chest in it. It is very easy to get it back off again.

I think it runs a little small. I am able to contain most of my chest, but there is major cleavage spillage (not the hubba, hubba kind) & also some out of the arm holes. The description of the bra says that it offers encapsulation support & that it shapes & supports each breast individually. For me, it works more like a compression type bra because I don't fit correctly in the cups.

All that aside, it does a pretty good job keeping everything locked down for 20 minutes on the rebounder. I do have more bounce than I wanted, but I am NOT in any pain & I can breathe. I could never wear a sports bra outside the house without a shirt anyway, but if you are looking for one to do that & are my size, this is not the bra for you. I tend to wear large t-shirts when I work out, so it works fine for me.

I did contact Enell & they said that I may be able to use a #3, but if it didn't work I could get a custom from them. Right now, I'm going to stick with the Shock Absorber since I already bought it.

PS. My other suggestion is to wear two bras when working out. It can work if you pick two that work in different ways.

I haven't try any of those but I have buy expensive ones from Oakley and other sport brands and haven't found one that does the job (and I have a 38C ). I dream of the day someone would invent a good one.

I'm having a difficult time finding good sports bras for my 44DDD. I ordered Glamorize brand and they were awful. I'm still looking. I am thinking about the Enell brand, they're backordered probably because of the sale at Bare Necessities. (Online company)

The one that works for me is the Enell Style NL100, size 4. There are several places onliine that sell it.

I'm a 12F and even I have issues keeping them in/down but what works best for me is 2 sports crops which compress and then a workout singlet with the extra insert compression inside. I know it's not a nice feeling getting that sweaty feeling but i figure it feels worse if they bounce around too much. If you are getting breathless get a band size larger and again layer the compression.

I'm not sure if you can still get them but a few years back I bought a couple of Enell ones for about half the price on Ebay. It is a resell store for their factory seconds. It didn't affect the fit at all, just some stitching that wasn't perfect. You couldn't even tell!

When I was a 34G Shock Absorber worked very well. Sometimes you can get a good deal on eBay. Look for sellers from Britain. They make amazing bras for women with a bigger bust. Good luck!

34H here. I have used Freya in the past, but got introduced to Anita active extreme control bras and I'm never going back. I love them. They have other kinds too, but extreme control is the only one I've tried and keeps everything locked down for me, lol.

I use the Shock Absorber run bra. It was wonderful and exactly what I needed, however one strap sometimes unhooks when I run which is super annoying if I don't have a discrete place to jump into to fix the strap. Luckily the back and neck strap still support but this was an issue when I did a 5k during the summer because I had no place to stop and fix the strap and still over 3k to go

Unfortunately I don't have the receipt and ordered online so returning was not possible. Anyone else have this same issue? Not sure if it was just mine.

I have used 2: Shock absorbers, and freya underwire active. And I am happy with both, and no need to double up.

Freya does come up a bit small in the cups- when comparing with my normal freya bras! The normal ones are even a bit bigger than the sports one. But saying that, they really keep my boobs in place, and have more of a separation.

The shock absorbers work well too, but they are more compressed than separated.

^This ^ wear one with cups and one which is just a regular sports bra (like a Nike bra, etc). One helps with the horizontal bounce and the other the vertical.
