Exercising when your body is aching

So yesterday I may have been over-enthusiastic on the squats, and the day before, the same again with push ups. I'm sure with the New Year, there's going to be many people like me - over exerting and trying too hard, too soon.
Do you have any advice for getting your exercise in, when all you want to do is curl up with a hot water bottle?

    Drink lots of water. Take an easy walk or other light exercise to loosen up your muscles. Get extra protein in. Foam roller the sore parts.

    If it's just sore muscles and not an injury-suck it up buttercup!

    Stretch before and after your workout, drink lots of water. Stretch again if necessary throughout the day.

    Nothing wrong with DOMS, just make sure it's not pain.

    Embrace sore muscles because that means you actually worked those muscles. Rest the next day and then do it again :) Rinse and repeat.

    Slow easy warm up and get to it. Foam roll after, and properly hydrate.
