Starting again

I lost 21 pounds 3 years ago and since then it has crept back on. I am starting again but I really need help. I need someone to keep me going and when (if) I hit my target to keep me on track. I also need some help with ideas for lunch. I eat my main meal in the evening and get fed up with the usual lunches (eggs, cheese, ryvita, etc). Can anyone help me?

Hi earwen , I lost 40 lbs got down to 10.5 st but alas like you it has crept back on. I know why it happened and I'm going to start tracking tomorrow . Maybe we could offer each other a bit of support . For lunch I normally eat home made soups or chicken/tuna salad . I know what you mean about it getting mundane but it feels safe to get into a routine maybe just widen the safe options. when I was doing really well I completely eliminated any wheat products and if I included potatoes - only new potatoes steamed or baked sweet potato.0

I'm starting over again too... i lost 35-40 lbs maybe 4 or 5 years ago and starting around 2 years ago have gained back 25-30 of it. no fun. i've had a few times where i tried losing but eventually lost motivation. this is the highest i've weighed since i lost the weight and i don't want to get back to where i started so i'm really going to try to stick to it this time. we should be friends!0

I'm so glad I'm not alone! I had lost 75 pounds since having my youngest son but have gained back about 15 of it mostly in the past 2 months. Would love some new friends to help keep each other motivated!0

What worked last time? What kinds of meals did you like?
You can really eat any kind of food you'd like (unless you have a medical restriction) as long as you stay within your calorie allotment, so your possibilities are pretty much wide-open.
If you're trying to focus on health, you'll want to know your macros. Some people pay attention to those, some don't.
If you want support, you can add me as a friend.0 -
Don't do what you did last time. What you did last time didn't work. Figure out why it didn't work and try to correct that this time around, so that when you're done, you don't gain it back.
Don't rely on other people to keep you going. "Do it for yourself" is an over-used and trite expression, but it holds. You have to be committed and determined to do it without any help because nobody can motivate you and nobody else can lose your weight.
Support is fantastic to get! But it's all on you.
And when you're done, the credit is all yours, too!0 -

I disagree that what the OP did initially didn't work. She says the weight "crept" back on, and it took three years. That sounds more to me (though we can't know until the OP gives us details) that she allowed bad habits, or at least weight-gain promoting habits, to creep back in.
If I were to rebound from some crazy weight loss scheme, I could eat back 21 pounds in two months without batting an eye.
Now if she'd said she lost 21 pounds in one month and then bam, it all came back, I'd be thinking differently. (Again, we won't know until we have more details.)
AFAIK, most if not all weight loss plans, including sensible ones, have a gigantic recidivism rate. That doesn't mean they don't work; it means it's easier and more fun to go back to our old habits.
So, OP...what did you do last time to lose the 21 pounds?0 -
You've lost 21 pounds before, so you know you need a deficit. To make a difference, you need to do it in a way that is sustainable. Do it for you, make a commitment to you and get motivation from you.0
