    Hey Kendra,
    Firstly, welcome to MFP and happy new year to you!
    MFP isn't a program as such, it is a collection of tools to help make it easier to give yourself a healthy lifestyle change or to assist you in continuing a healthy lifestyle that you might already have!

    Here on the forums you can get some great help and advice from other people that have been in a similar place to you before, or that might be on the very same journey as you right now.

    Logging your food, drink and water consumption every day will help you to keep a track on your calorie and nutrient consumption and give you a far better idea of what is in the foods you eat, this can help you make great alternative food and drink choices (the majority of foods and drinks are already in the database but if there is something you like to eat or drink that isn't, you can add them to the database for yourself and others to use in the future by using the details provided on most food and drink packaging).

    Making friends on here will make your journey so much easier, helping to keep each other motivated and giving each other support and advice.

    I put together a newbie help post with links to helpful info, including the sexypants thread, one about logging accurately, and some blog posts I've done about goal setting, motivation, etc.
