Good grief, you guys are some serious rowers. I just started rowing a couple weeks back. I don't have the time to row for 60 minutes at a time but I am putting in 30 to 35 minutes 3 times a week. I switched rowing out for elliptical to change things up. I don't pay attention to distance, but I average around 11 to 12 cals a minute per session.

Do you guys switch hand position often? I seem to be able to only row 10 to 12 minutes and then I switch to underhand for a couple of minutes and then switch back.

Believe me.. 3 or 4 months ago, I wasn't able to muster up anything past 20-25 minutes. So your 30-35 minutes exceed my starting place.

I've never rowed underhand. Always overhand. Sometimes I take a wider "grip" and sometimes a more "narrow" though.

not serious rowers compared to many others,a few of us only started in oct 2014 and have just increased distances as part of our exercise/ weight loss goals.
the conceptc2.com website has great tips and tutorials on everything rowing related, inc videos of how to row, hand position etc.
i personally keep a loose grip, and only wrap my hands fully when sprint finishing to beat a personal best.
