What 4 Months of Slow and Steady Weight Loss Looks Like

Somebody said it here once, and I loved it - we don't have a weight, we have a weight range. At some point in July, I was swollen, heavy, and uncomfortable and I weighed myself. I began halfheartedly trying, then got serious about it.

I started weighing every morning (you'll see when below), and I put it in a spreadsheat along with a lot of other information I left out. I eventually started losing. But I thought it would be interesting to share!

This is a slow and steady weight loss, while still enjoying things I love, sometimes a little too much. I didn't include my own comments here, which say things like, "ATE ALL THE THINGS" and "OMG GIN" and "birthday!!" and stuff like that. I can get stuck for weeks and weeks, or it feels like it.

It reads bottom to top.

I plan on keeping going for another 20 or so pounds.

    +1 Great job!
  • Interesting to see 1-2 lb increases over a day but the gradual loss over the long term.

    Very inspiring! :)

Awesome job! And thanks for posting this. I always get so discouraged when I weigh in with a gain, next time I'll keep this chart of awesomeness in mind :)

It you enter weight under "check in"-it will then show a graph under "reports". The visual graph is quite simple but powerful. More powerful for me than just a list of numbers.

    Great job losing weight!

When I check in on MFP, I don't post a weight change unless it's a loss. But yes, I found it really helpful to see how the range just slowly shifts down.

Today, I'm at the top of my current range, but I'm pretty sure it's all gin and deep fried macaroni and cheese ball thingies. There's also a shot of tequila in there somewhere, which I only know about because I just checked my phone and found the selfie I took last night holding the shot.
    *not ashamed

This makes me feel better about my argument for weighing myself everyday. It keeps me on my toes. Luckily over Christmas/New Year's I managed to maintain and lost a few pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I found that to be a success in itself. Your list makes me want to continue tracking my weight and food diary. Congrats on the loss!

Yip, I've been there where my weight has been up a few pounds one day and back down again the next. I think it's womens hormones that makes us fluctuate so much on sometimes a daily basis. Huge congratulations and good luck with the next part of your journey x

I think it's keeping me very aware, every single morning, of what I'm trying to do.

You just have to be completely accepting of the fact that you can do everything right, and still see slight fluctuations up sometimes. If I step on the scale tomorrow and see it up a pound or two, I'm not worried. As long as I'm doing what I should be doing, I know for a fact that it will slowly dance back down.
