This is pretty much, verbatim, my profile statement with a few additions... I'm hoping some other folks will benefit from reading about my journey, and I welcome adding some new friends! I will say right here that I keep my food diary private for a myriad of reasons. I know some people don't like that, but, that's how I roll!

I am 62... married, mother of 3, grandmother of 4 and a full time fine artist (painter). My TOP weight, at just a hair over 5' tall, was 185 pounds. That was in the late 1990's/early 2000's, and finding out I had developed type II Diabetes was a wake up call! I got down to about 135, got my glucose levels to a point where you'd never have known Diabetes had ever been an issue, and was fairly contented at that weight. After divorcing my husband of 20 years in 2008 my goal was to get those last 20 pounds off that would put me right where I wanted to be. I met that goal and treated myself to a much needed tummy tuck! I met my wonderful new husband in 2010 and we were married in the Spring of 2011. As of 2 year ago I was at my goal weight of 112-115 pound, but after having some surgery and being less active, I fell into old habits and gained 18 pounds. Besides wanting to fit back into that wardrobe I treated myself with after the previous weight loss, my health is the biggest reason that I want to get my weight down again. I have type II Diabetes which I've always been able to control with diet, as long as I'm careful, but my levels went way up over the summer of 2014. I've managed to get a pretty good handle on that now. Also, I have had a hip replacement that I don't want stressed in any way. I also don't ever want to have any other joint replacements and being at a healthy weight will aid in that goal. I had been on MFP in the past and thought I didn't need it anymore.... I was wrong! This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon, and this will be a life long struggle. I've been back on MFP for just over 3 months and now feel like I'd like to make some new friends or reconnect with some from my first go 'round here!
