I just found this forum so I am late in the introduction.
About me;
59 yo male
223 pounds
6' 1"
married with grown children, grown step children, lots of grandchildren,
former high school jock, mostly junior varsity, was always active but lost my way for the last 15-20 years.
Twenty five years ago I was at my peak, ran daily, weighed 170, had minimal body fat, and was very fit. I ran road races at a sub 7 minute pace.
Five months ago I realized I was bordering on obesity. When I occasionally tried to run, it nearly crippled me for the next couple days, something had to change.
I installed the MFP app, the Run Keeper app, and started on my journey. I have lost about 37 pounds so far and feel much better. I can now run a couple times a week (slowly) without being crippled the next day.
My goal is to get under 200 pounds by my birthday in May of 2015 and reevaluate at that time. So far I am highly motivated and have no trouble sticking with my new diet.
I am interested in joining with other men with similar histories and goals.
Life is good, but too short!
