Chipotle?

Hi everyone!
Just out of curiosity, how accurate is Chipotle's calorie counts? I could understand the accuracy in the burritos because you have to wrap them up and all... but what about the salads and burrito bowls? the serving sizes for different toppings (meat, beans, rice) and the bowl in general seem very latte to what is actually counted on their online nutrition calculator. Anyone ever test this or ask?

I used to work there, it's quite accurate assuming they give you the correct portions. And they're pretty good about it. Just don't go asking for 'a little bit more' of everything and you'll do ok.0

The online calculator is one thing but the people making the food eyeball portions so take it with a gain of salt.0

There was a thread a few months ago of someone finding out they were serving close to a double portion than they should of things. Any restaurant, really, you can't guarantee the accuracy of their calorie counts, because the cooks can easily use more than a serving.
When you go, just be mindful of what you get, and maybe ask for less (I always stick to half a serving of rice in my bowl).0 -
As others have said - it's accurate if the employees are using the correct measurements. I used to work at a Dairy Queen and can attest that almost every employee used significantly more ingredients unless our manager was around. So I'd say in real life it's not that accurate.

You only need to do this once though it might be a little overboard but you could get your typical bowl or whatever and deconstruct it and measure it out on a scale then you can compare the online portion to what was actually given to you. That way you have better idea just by eyeballing it in the future.
I did this once and now feel pretty confident I can tell when I see my usual chicken bowl being made if they're putting in a little under or over what the online calculator says.

Somewhere online there's a post about Chipotle burritos vs a burrito bowl, and the bowl giving you more food.
Either way, unless you're eating there every day of the week, just go with the posted nutritional info - even if you're getting a bit more than the posted portion size, one day isn't going to hurt.
And now I want a burrito bowl.0 -
Even nutritional labels on boxes are only accurate +/ 10%. There will always be some error in your food calculations--unless you eat there or at places like it often, I wouldn't worry too much.0

Ask them to give you the correct portion of rice, not the extra scoop they like to give, if you want your calories to be correct. The other caloric stuff is expensive and they don't go generous on-- meat, cheese and guac.0
